What you know
Book 1: The Many-Colored Land
- Ch 39The Spear is a photonic weapon left with Lugonn at the Ship's Grave; it is said to be enough to turn the war if obtained.
- Ch 39Object the expedition aims to retrieve using exotic aircraft, apparently from the Ship's Grave.
- Ch 45The Spear is Lugonn's weapon, a long zapper connected by cable to a jeweled powerpack; it survived uncorroded and the party recovered it.
- Ch 45If as powerful as Martha thinks, its atmospherics could be detected by any Tanu with farsense within about a hundred kloms of the Vosges.
- Ch 45The Spear was left in the shadow of the flyer's wings beside the neighboring aircraft.
- Ch 46Martha is repairing it; the powerpack is half-charged and cannot be opened. The lowest setting is probably light-pistol power, the top a portable photon cannon.
- Ch 47Brought back by Madame in the aircraft; it was made to work properly before she would return.
- Ch 48The Spear is a heavy, awkward energy weapon fired by studs; it can melt walls and rock with a green-white beam.
- Ch 49Weapon used by Madame Guderian's side, powered by a pack; Richard discarded it with its powerpack, leaving it unusable until someone recharges it.
Book 2: The Golden Torc
- Ch 20The Spear is a photon weapon that is useless as a pretty glass clothespole unless Aiken Drum helps recharge it. It could destroy the factory from the lagoon.
- Ch 20The Spear is coated with blue lacquer, which is starting to peel.
- Ch 21The Spear is a sacred photon weapon brought by the exotics from their home galaxy for ceremonial hero combats; using it in war is scandalous.
- Ch 30A glassy photonic lance, now cleaned of its blue lacquer and fully charged; usable only after midnight on the fifth day in the Heroic Encounters.
Book 3: The Nonborn King
- Ch 11The sacred Spear of Lugonn came mysteriously to Aiken's hands but is currently lost; Aiken says he knows where it is.
- Ch 12The gold-lustre glass photon Spear is useless because salt-water immersion shorted its power module; Felice took it from the real Bright Lugonn and regained it after the Flood.
- Ch 36The Spear was torn from Aiken's hands during the Great Flood and is damaged; technicians plan to repair it aboard riverboats.
- Ch 36The Spear is a golden-glass lance linked to a power-module; it was fouled with salt and inoperative until technicians repaired it.
- Ch 43The Spear is a living golden shaft that absorbs Mercy's life-force and being, leaving only ashes while Aiken is revived and shining.
Book 4: The Adversary
- Ch 8King Aiken's golden-glass Spear is a weapon he can use at range only with precise aiming from others, at great cost to his strength.
